Aluminum gets brittle it the temps you will be exposing it to. It's melting temp is a lot lower than copper, bronze, brass and steel. I've melted it (on purpose) with a wood fire and a blower.

What do you use to plug the air holes on the intake of a BDS style smoker? I assume rubber ones will melt.
