Yes, just the sides, top & bottom have 2" insulation. Front & back are 1/2" steel. We add a split of wood about every 45 minutes.

All I remember is that we had a good fit before the blast. Bad fit after the blast. They used white sand to blast.

The metal gets hot when it is sand blasted. The guy that blasted it may have over done it.

Mine gets hot enough on the top that you can touch it bare handed. It is hot enough that you won't leave it there very long.

We used 2" mineral wool.

I have Slide Hammer Log Splitter. I can split wood sitting in a chair. They sell them on Amazon for about $40. I like to make things, so I made one out of scrap metal.

The sealant is High Temp RTV. Our tank is 3/16".

This is ours. We insulated the sides. Front & back are 1/2" plate steel.

Ours is warm enough on the outside to warm the logs. We used 2" of mineral wool. The hottest spot is right above the door.

I use autocad everyday at work for the last 25 years. It comes in handy. I drew my smoker plans, grandsons tree house, anything that I need to build. I layout everything.
