Don't think you will need the Auber for a cold-smoke, more like it will depend 100% on your cooker and how tightly assembled it is. Oh, and the size and type of burn you can put together and control!

Laying flat on the grate will depend entirely on the width of the rack. Two for sure, three is variable.
