I am from Bull Stomp, Oklahoma and fairly new to the BBQ scene! Anybody got any original recipes for smoking raccoon, possum, or squirrell?? People around my parts love these animals as they are in great demand. Your feedback is appreciated!

I am not sure that you would smoke them any different but as far as rub goes I know that the Texas BBQ Ranger just put out a new rub that is for Wild Game. The link to order it is here.

Have not personally tried it myself but many have on their forum and they say it is quite good.

you really eat opossum? i have had some great bbq'd coon before, but it was done slow cooker style, not smoker, i bet it will be even better smoked. i always quarter my squirrels and fry them, or make stew. I tried smoking them once, but they came out super tough

I've had coon and possum... Don't think I would rush out to try them again. Now the fried squirrel, I'd be all over that! Grew up with it fried, stewed etc... Good Eats!

James.

i have had really good coon and i have had horrible coon, i won't eat opossum. they are just too gross. coon from what i notice needs a great sauce and needs to be slow cooked in the sauce for a while, and then has to be served hot. cause if it cools you notice how greasy it is
