Ringers,
I've been cooking away on the old drum smoker and family and friends have been taking notice of the barbeque coming out of it.
Last summer, I was really surprised when my best friend Bruce showed some interest in learning how to smoke.
I told him I would build him a smoker like the old one.

OR, I could build him one, like the one I'm going to build myself.
He asked why I was going to change the old design when the cooker already makes good Q.
I told him I had a couple of changes I wanted to make (I'm never happy with anything Twisted Evil ) and I needed another one... He went for the new upgraded model.

I was going to post this cooker after it was done,
But my best friend in Texas (Kevin, I only have one friend in Texas Laughing ) just wasn't happy with not seeing the progress as it happens. Laughing
I guess if he was building a cooker and I couldn't see it,
I'd feel the same way. Wink

Here are a few pics of the build.

Basket

The stack

A hole in the drum

Thanks for taking a look!

I got the Reflux ya know! Twisted Evil

TrailerBuilder,
I have had three people in the last week ask me to build them one! Laughing
I'll help you build one in your shop! send me a plane ticket... my garage is full... Rolling Eyes Laughing

icecoldkicks,
Thanks bro! I think he may have me cook for him too.. Who knows! Laughing

Mike,
Yep! lucky i'm working on his cooker while he chases women all around the valley! Laughing
(He's reading the thread... Shocked Laughing Twisted Evil )
Thanks for taking a look bro!

Ringers,
I got a little work done on the basket today, and Bruce came by to check on my progress and lend a hand. I wrestled with #9 expanded metal for way too long today, just as I got a handle on it, Kevin called and schooled me on an easier way to work it into shape. I will try it his way on the second cooker. Wink
I angled the front of the basket to make a pour spout for the ash, you can't see the pich of the flat bar from the pic, it looks like it's sitting at a 90 but it's not. It was a last minute change... who knows if it will work. Laughing

I'm trying to build my new cookers with ease of use in mind. I'm not too concerned with the looks...
at least at this point I'm not. Laughing

chuckied, your cooker is turning out nice. Very nice detailed work. I like it alot! Your friend is very lucky to have you build that one for sure!

I have not YET built a drum cooker, so I could not offer a drop of advice on the build, however, I have ran out of gas on the weekend, many times, and I can give you a pointer on that...........

Extra bottle my friend! Wink Laughing
