Troy,
Kevin and I are thinking about getting the 211. Very Happy
The thing is … I have my finger on the trigger, but there is a patio build starting (a new smoke’n spot) and I already have a mig… I don’t really need to spend the money on a new toy, I have plenty of other more important projects looming. Rolling Eyes

Kevin has been toying with the idea for a while, he says it would increase his work speed greatly… but also has other projects looming. He has his gun in his hand but, his finger is not on the trigger. Crying or Very sad I want him to buy one first and then he can give me a report on the quality of the rig and also give me tips on how to use it best… So he and I are pushing each other to buy it first. Laughing

I am kinda cooling off on the 211 idea at the moment, but after an hour or so of welding… My finger will be right back on the trigger again. I know my welding woes are all caused by the user… but a new rig would be nice! Cool

As always, it is good to hear from you bro!
Don’t forget to check the Space Shuttle box on your order form. Laughing

Chuck, Kevin called and verified the cold front and that he's thinking about a 211. He was curious if I had welded with one or knew anything about them. I didn't know much but called my supplier whom I've know and done business with for close to 20 years. He's always been on the up and up with me on things so I trust his recommendations. He highly recommends the 211 and has nothing but good to say about it. Nice mid range machine with both 110/220 hookups. I'm going to the store after work today to weld with one and see how it burns steel. I figure that's the least I can do in my efforts to help you and Kevin spend your $$$$. Twisted Evil

Troy its a good thing Debbie keeps a tight rein on the check book cause between you and Mike spending the money I would be eating a lot of beanie wienies. Laughing

Troy,
In this neighborhood, spending a friend’s money is my gig… just ask Bruce how much he has spent on his drum. Laughing
Thanks for checking out the machine for us! Cool

Chuck, I hate to turn your cooker thread into a welding discussion but the 211 welds nice. Pretty small, bout 80lbs, 110/220 capable, gas or flux and auto set. I welded some 1/4 steel plate and had good penetration, I would weld with it on any home project I had. I'd build trailers with it and not be a bit scared of it. It has a connector for a spool gun, which is nice if you decide to play around with aluminum or stainless. The only thing I did not like was the 10' lead, but I'm used to my 15'. A person can get into one complete, welder, cart, and bottle for +/- $1300-$1400. A lot more than the harbor freight machines I know, but a machine that would last a person a good number of years and do a wide variety of projects big and small. Now you just need to put a pry bar on that checkbook and make the deal! Once we convert Kevin to a mig, he'll be turning out projects one right after another. Laughing And yes Kevin, you know me and Mike enjoy designing on your dime!

Chuck, was good to talk to you and glad the info helped out a bit. Looking forward to seeing more updates on the cooker.

Troy,
Thanks again for spending my money! And the review bro. Laughing
The 211 is in its new home… My garage. Wink
I think Brother Kevin should come over to the Mig side of town and see what the buzz is all about and maybe we could show him a few other new things…
like sliced bread and square tubing! Razz

Ringers,
I have not had the time to work on Bruce’s ADS for a few weeks, he is starting to get antsy! Shocked so I’d better get it done soon.
The temporary casters had to go, they didn’t work all that well anyway. I got some square tubing and some wheels from HF and got a permanent cart made.

The temp setup. Rolling Eyes

The start of the new cart.

Test fit.

She needed a bit more steel for the builder to be happy. Wink

Welded on... I was going to make it removable, but I decided not to go that route. If I want to remove it, I have a grinder! Laughing

The cart may get a few more things added to it if I have time, so this is the cart almost finished or finished. Laughing

Thanks for looking! Very Happy

Chuck, nice to see some progress brother!! Man, I thought I was taking forever on my builds! Wink Looks like the drum is taking fine shape now and maybe heading down the home stretch. I think Kevin might be too far south to come around on the beauty of tubing, but I think he's way ahead of us on the sliced bread. Shocked Laughing

Keep the updates coming my friend!

Even my relatively new friends are giving me grief about this build. Shocked
Troy, this is not your every day run of the mill UDS…
Oh no, this is a highly complex “Mobile-Vertical-Dual Exhaust-Single Intake-Multi Level-Beer Bottle Opening-Tri Control-Quad Temperature Reading-Low & Slow Barbeque Cooking Unit”
Or a "MVDESIMLBBOTCQTRL&SBCU" for Short. Shocked
No my friend Troy… This is no quick drum build. The Chuckie D shop required new tooling just for this build! Very Happy
A great many Mike’s Hard Margaritas & Bud Lights have been consumed in the planning stages of this build alone. Each piece is carefully thought out over many alcoholic beverages and scrutinized for build necessity. Shocked Then schedules must be checked for possible work days… etc, etc. Rolling Eyes
How many time must I repeat myself, Art takes time Bro. Laughing Laughing

Yep! Kevin has us beat hands down in the sliced bread category. He can slice it with a piece of angle iron ya know. Shocked Razz

All kidding aside Troy, I need to get to other projects… This cooker has got to get out of my garage real soon! Wink

RLane22,
Thanks for taking a look bro!

Ringers,
The cart was going to have some expanded metal welded to the bottom. I didn't like the plan. I decided to make that project harder, because I did not know how to do what I wanted to do. I asked a friend if his HF metal break would bend exp metal, but he did not seem to want to help me out, but he did give me some pointers on how to do it (it was a teach a man to fish kinda thing Cool ).
So after a little trial & error, this is what I got.

Test fit.

Welded & trimmed. It was getting dark outside. Rolling Eyes

Finished side pics!

No visible welds on the top side.

Thats all for now,
Thanks for look'n

Chuck, it's looking good man!! The cart turned out sweet! I think you should give Bruce an empty drum and paint that bad boy Miller Blue and set it by the new toys and admire it! Excellent job brother, looking really good!

chuckied, that is one sweet job you are doing. I have been playing with a UDS also but nothing like this. You have way too much time on your hands bud. Laughing

I wrestled with my expanded metal also. I think it was 14 inches wide. Are you going to share KAM's tip on bending that crap? I got some bend in it around a propane tank but the ends were a real pain. I finally strapped and hammered mine together. There has to be a better way...

chuckie d; at first glance I thought you had built one of these. I guess that would be another class of UDS “Extreme UDS”.

Chuck, you would be done with this project if you would get off that tubing kick. HELLO angle iron has only two sides. That is why these racks take so long the freaking four sides of tubing to weld. Razz Laughing Razz Laughing
