Yes or no is entirely up to you. Others can chime in on the "with what" question. I've never injected on and see no reason to.

I don't inject, but have been known to use a paring knife and put Serrano peppers in and then cook. Good stuff.

I never used to inject pork butts. I wanted to get more flavor deep into the meat so I've been using this injection that I got from another site.

1 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon Butter or Margarine
1/2 Medium Onion of your Choice
1/2 Red, Orange, or Yellow Bell Pepper( not the Green one, it is not sweet enough)
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Hot Sauce
1/4 Cup Apple Juice
1/2 Cup water
2 Tablespoons Apple Cidar Vinegar
2 Large Bay Leaves
1 Teaspoon Mrs. Dash Onion Herb Seasoning
2 Tablespoons Kosher Salt
1/2 teaspoon of celery seed
Dash of Dry Rub of your choice

1. Sautee Onion and Bell Pepper with Butter and Olive Oil along with Bay Leaves for 5 minutes..
2. Add all the rest of the Seasonings, Water, Brown Sugar, Appple Cidar Vinegar, Apple Juice, Salt and Dry Rub.
3. Bring Mixture to a Boil , Boil for 10 to 15 Minutes
4. Reduce heat, and Simmer for 1 hour.
5. Remove from heat, Let your Broth Cool completely.
6. Strain Broth. (I place in the freezer to get the grease to set on top then remove. Don't want to inject the butt w/grease). Then Inject it into Pork, or Chicken
This should make a light Savory Injection Liquid!!!!
