@KAKid: Thanks for your comments about my burner design. If I may, what part of it did you find helpful?
@GF: Thank you! That base *better* be sturdy! Those old 10 on 11-1/4" truck brake drums are *heavy*! I made a post for my shop using one before, holds a variety of different things like a vise, a bench punch, a bench shear and (I think) a pipe vise. I might build a low cart just to put wheels under it, but that won't come until later.
@killswitch505: Oh, thank you! I'm just following in the footsteps of the masters here!

OK! Got handles on the disc and got it pretty much seasoned. I'm not real proud of the handles but they will work OK until some buddy of mine with a wood lathe takes pity on me and turns me up a pair from real nice hardwood. See:
This has been a lot of fun to build. I'm going to cook on it Sunday for 20-30 people. Will try to take pictures.

Mounting the burner to a piece of plate, then using the 1" stock to attach the disc ring. (In my case a trailer wheel with center removed.)
I was trying to just use the 1" stuff. _________________ I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

Ah I see. Yup, I figure if the burner turns out to be too close I can just cut off the straps and cut 3 longer ones, weld them back on and paint it up. Easy fix if necessary.
Seasoning the disc, the burner seemed about right.

I blew a lot of casting sand out of my jet wok burner today and put it all back together. Seems to burn a bit better:
