Roxy, I know the recipe has been around a while, but I did it for the first time this past weekend and got great reviews. I didn't have celery seed but I did use a little caraway seed instead. I also used greek yogurt instead of the buttermilk. _________________ Scott V.

The yogurt would be a good sub for the butter milk..
I think caraway would be an interesting flavour, never tried that. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

It's the closest we had on hand since I forgot to get the celery seed when I was at the store. _________________ Scott V.

Made some of this slaw tonight along with your mustard sauce. I've got a pork butt going in the smoke in the morning. Got some fresh potato rolls today. Gonna have pp sandwiches for dinner tomorrow topped with the slaw. Looking forward to it. |

This has been my go to side for all events and EVERYONE raves about it and comes back for more. It is a liquidy (is that even a word) slaw, but DANG it is AWESOME. I hate coleslay except for this one.
Last weekend I made this while camping. My MIL asked me for the recipe. To put this in true perspective, she is from New York and is full eyetalian (spelled incorrectly for emphasis ) and does not care for anything BBQ. For her to ask is a holy @#*% moment
Awesome recipe. I want to try the kicked up version but I get a dirty look from the wife and she says "do not screw with perfection".
Gonna have to try a side by side comparison next time.
We forgot the white vinegar on our last camping trip and had to scramble. I tried it w/o. Hell, what can 1/8 cup make a difference. The difference is huge. It ammazes me how much flavor that little bit of vinegar can bring out. Thank god my MIL was a boyscout in her past life and she has EVERYTHING in her camper. I damn near put Publix (local grocery store) on the side of her camper last weekend.

It is way past time for you to do a cook book. I will buy the first 10 copies! |

well, how much does a head of cabbage weigh..?? Couple, three pounds so I would triple or maybe 4 times the dressing and the same for everything else,
3 or 4 times the recipe should cover it. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

Thanks for the great slaw recipe. The thing I like the best is the Celery Seed, what an awesome touch.
What vinegar is best, white or Cider? I was thinking of using Rice Wine Vinegar for it's sweetness and tart.
As for the liquidy dressing would you consider using a little corn syrup to help it cling. Would there be a way to thicken it with something else?
Thanks
