|
|
Debbie and I cooked as turkey yesterday for supper and to make meals with for the week. We injected it with a broth and rub mixture we have been working on.
The bird ready for the smoker.
Cooked and ready to rest.
Last nights meal was turkey, mashed taters and gravy, mustard greens, candied carrots and cornbread.
The bird de-boned and ready for leftovers.

My kind of plate right there, maybe a little vinegar pepper sauce for the greens. Do I see some turkey hash by the end of the week?... |

Looks awesome Kevin I havent smoked a bird since the holidays, guess I better get one on the new smoker and do a "test run" before the holidays hit this year. Sounds like a good enough excuse to me

Total agreement. Done it several times in the past and (save for getting one darned big bird) there was little in the way of 'left overs.'
What there was went in to a stock pot for turkey soup.

Thank You zski.
Thank You jess, Oh the vinegar sauce was there.
Thank You MacEggs.
Thank You Troy, The injection is a nice flavor, not to overpowering and gets some nice flavors through out the bird.
Thank You BluDawg, We work the sales hard during the Holidays and stock up on frozen birds for the off season.
Thank You fredaevans, this bird has a few ideas earmarked for it if there is enough left through the week.

k.a.m., that sure does look like a great meal! can't wait to see where the leftovers go!
Nice work as usual.
Did you have to use charcoal, or did you cook it using the ambient heat?

Looks great Kevin - I have problems finding turkeys [ at a decent price] anytime besides Christmas / Thanksgiving - I can get the 25 pounders for under $1.50 / pound - but they fill the Lang quick, and I sure cant eat that big o bird in a week!!
I take it the rub worked out well??! _________________ Money Maker
