And I've spoken directly with him since then Cody.
That was meant (and taken by Kevin as such) as a joke coinciding with his recent B-Day.
We are all as anxious as you are to see the beautiful finish up to this build.

BTW my man, if you are going to slap me around and have a handle like yours at the bottom of your posts I'd suggest using spell-check.

Kevin. Are you going to keep the dome end the way it is? I was thinking that cutting it off might help reduce some weight, make more room on the trailer and help it use a little less fuel, since the domes on your tank are kinda big.
What do you have in mind for stacks & caps/dampers? |

Ray, all of your points I have pondered more times than once. The dome weight is not really and issue but I could gain 18" of much needed space if gone. I believe having the dome will help when I go to the R/F design to act as a buffer for the air to roll around and back, BBQMAN and I have discussed this on several visits and he also believes it has its advantages. I am sure there will be a bit more fuel usage with it when I go R/F but as a tuning plate cooker I believe she will be pretty efficient. My main reason for leaving it at this stage is the unknown effect it will have on the door assembly when it is cut off.
I will have two 6" stacks on the main chamber set to the back and on each end. The warming chamber will have two 3" or 4" stacks when I want to use it as a cold smoker. All stacks will have swing dampers to close them off when not in use. These are my plans as of this post they may change ya never know.  _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

I had some time to work on the firebox a little here and there.
I got the intake slide installed, I still need to build the adjuster rod.
I built the wood grate and basket along with the clean out tool and poker.
I also installed my sacrificial plate in the top of the firebox, it is hard to see but it is suspended 1/4" on the cooking chamber side and 3/4" on the far side giving me a slope to the opening. The plate is 3/8" thick.

Thank You Mike, The sacrificial plate will save the top of the firebox from rusting do to the high heat then cool downs. With the humidity around here most fireboxes with in a year of being built suffer from deterioration in this area do to moister being trapped in the metal as it cools down. I did not want to weld them touching each other as this would promote rust between the two surfaces I also did not want to create an insulator for the warming chamber so I spaced it at an angle helping the heat/smoke into the cooking chamber. I hope this explains it.
