|
|
| Has anyone ran into a problem with welding anything underneath, I have a Millermatic 200 and every time I weld under something ie.... smoke box, underneath truck frame, it just puddles up real bad, spits and spudders. Weld things vertical, or horizontal on top and it does great, I have played with the wire feed speed, voltage, made sure I have clean surfaces, gas settings and so on. I can't seem to get a handle on it, do you guys have any ideas? Thanks for any information. |

Is your overhead technique working on other machines? It is a tough position and hard to keep your pool from dropping out. I find it better to push than backfill overhead. Some real welder around will probably chime in. _________________ D. Tillery

A few things you should do.
1)Make sure your welder is set hot enough.
2)Keep your contact tip flush with the nozzle
3)Keep your wire stickout short-3/8" or so
4)Run with almost no torch angle-not leading or trailing
5)Push rather than pull and keep on the front of the puddle _________________ ~Joe
