Was wondering if anybody had a good recipe of the famous Jimmy Johns French bread? Before I have bought day old bread from here and it makes for some great sandwiches with some fresh smoked meat (pp, turkey or brisket). |

I don't know about Jimmy Johns, but it's difficult to beat Julia Child's french bread. |

PaulO - do you find that french/italian curved pan to be much of an advantage? I have been considering that one, as well as the baguette version that holds 3 narrower loaves... what's your opinion? |

You really don't need it.
It's in the category of "don't really need it, but it might make it marginally easier."
Here's an example of the same bread before I had it.

I was in New Haven, CT a few years ago. I was heading back home on I-91 north and saw a billboard anouncing that Chef's Equipment Emporium opened and was just off 91 in Wallingford.

Of course I had to stop.
Of course I couldn't leave without buying something. _________________ Pitt's & Spitt's U2436 |

PaulOinMA in the last week we tried the classic french bread from breadworld.com. Just wasn't what I was looking for. Maybe we'll have to try the country french bread.
OwenStubbs I watched some of the video but haven't try it yet. |

The video is just classic Julia Child.. mistakes and all!! That's what made her such a classic.
Recipes are easy to come by... afterall, mostly just flour, water, yeast and salt.... I need to improve my technique.. get that awesome crust and crumb!! |

Julia beats the c$@p out of that poor bread.
I grew up in the Boston area and have always love Julia. _________________ Chris from Uxbridge,MA

All of you guys have awesome recipes and pictures of stuff you baked in your bbq. I'm going to have to try it out. Thanksgiving is coming up. What do you all suggest as far as "baked goods" go? Apple pie, maybe? I definitely want to try that french bread recipe next time I make jambalaya.
