I'm trying to get a yak throwdown going on.
I suggest we do whole yaks. It's okay to take off the heads and hooves and hair, but that's it.
Also I'm not gonna throwdown unless there are at least 32 participants as I wanna test my yak bbq against all the best.
There should be "before" and "after" pics of your yak. Here's mine; Yakov Smirnov:

JAllen, sounds like a great idea.
If I can find a suitable yak, I'm in.
Hmm.....The Bronx zoo is only 30 mins away... I'll let you know for sure. |

JAllen, The zoo was a no-go.
Apparently even yaks don't like New York city.
I guess it would be tough to sneak a yak through the turnstile though.
I found a place in Steamboat springs, but a new yak starts at a grand + shipping.
I'm gonna look for a used one, I'll get back to you. |

You're not going to cook Yakov, are you ??
I'm pretty sure I got one in the freezer, it'll be already skinned & dressed tho.
If that's OK, I'm in!!!

JAllen, I am in you aint getting off that easy.
Here is my Yak I chose him from my north west forty.
what a fine specimen.
I had to process him myself.
Cooking was a no brainer for an appetizer we chose Yak burgers, nothing like fresh ground Yak.
For dinner I went all out just look at this plate up.
Here is a money shot to seal the deal.
Go ahead and crown me Yak king I accept the Honor. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Looks like my zoo has one. Don't have a vehicle large enough to transport him. Wondering if riding him home might work. Have you ever ridden one? |

Consider SoEzzy and his (obviously modified) baby blue EBO down.
Thanks for not giving the game face.
Unfortunately, that is the Yak40, not the simple yak.
You can buy one of those out here for about 35k. The only problem is they are not very fuel efficient.
I once flew from Tashkent to Samarkand on one of those and the plane landed while I was in the restroom and very busy.
It not a pretty sight. _________________ Reverse flow Sterno can

k.a.m. nicely done my man. Unfortunately you posted your plated pics in the wrong thread, so we're gonna have to refer you to the judges for potential disqualification.
In any case, you are officially out of the chicken koop. Let's hope you don't end up in the disqualification koop with my little red rooster. _________________ Reverse flow Sterno can

Let's all show respect for the chicken koopers, but not as much as we show for the real men (and potentially women) participating.
That actually means that we can show them low respect within forum guidelines.

You chickien koopers have a chance to get out of the koop.
rules (one of which k.a.m. has already broken before the throwdown even began) coming in next post. _________________ Reverse flow Sterno can

I will throw my myself to the mercy of the esteemed Yak judges and plead my case. Being a newby at Yak throw downs I felt it best to get it all out at once. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

JAllen, I say let k.a.m.'s entry stay.(although I still think it's a longhorn with a wig).
Q-in, Did you find that yak wandering down sesame street?
Maniac, Please read BBQMAN's sticky on gas assist safety.
That explosion was so bad it looks like it turned you yak into a llama.
Careful picking up hitch hikers. |

Maniac, I don't think that should qualify. JAllen said it had to be a pure bred Yak and clearly that is not. That looks exactly like a Yakadoodle or also known as Yakpoo. A cross between a Yak and a poodle.
Sorry if I am overstepping my bounds, but I would disqualify MAniac. _________________ Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.

Maniac, that would be a Llama.
We will not be doing the Llama throwdown until 2015, when we move to Belize and open a BBQ there. _________________ Reverse flow Sterno can
