Well, I ended up buying a bottled ranch salad dressing to make due tonight, but am still interested in a ranch (or even other sandwich sauce) recipe. Oh, I also added bacon to the sandwich...

This is what I use. Serve immediately for a Hacienda style or wing dip or refridgerate for a few hours for a thicker hidden valley type dressing. Tastes just like hidden valley but fresh. I forget where I got the recipie so I can't give credit where credit is due...

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon MSG (such as Accent Flavor Enhancer)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
pinch dried thyme

Combine and whisk until smooth.
