hi all. up here in the cold north. its like -10F right now. just waiting for some warm weather. just started smokin last year. got one season in. i have learned alot allready from online resouces. last year i used a brinkmann dont know which one but it was from sams club $200. but it pretty much sucked and hard to keep heat constant. i bought myself a char-broil electric for christmas $90 from amazon. i know its far from the best but cant wait to try it out this spring or maybe we'll even get a 60 degree day this winter ya never know. i have tried a few of the dry rubs from the web and think theres just way to much salt in the reciepes about killed my parents . they both in their upper 60's and have high blood presure so i go without salt now. but i got the smoke bug for sure. i have tried country style spare ribs and some chicken legs and qurters. my favorite so far is the quarters. cant wait to do some pulled pork and my brother wants me to smoke up some fish. i live by a lake so some fresh blue gill/sunfish or crappie sounds pretty good. sorry for the long post but i got a little cabin fever.

cheers. Tim

Welcome Tim. Thigh quarters are my favorite too. Crips up that skin and it's better than fried, well almost.

Fear not the cold. Fire it up.

Hey Tim, what part of MI are you from...?

Don't worry about rubs for you Q. I've done a few Q's bare naked, that's without a rub and they came out great.

Why are you waiting for spring? Fire up that smoker and grill now...!
