North Florida trailers is working on drawings for floorplans. I decided on them because they have been the most forthright in working with me. I have contacted some others with little to no response. From what I have got back on a first draft basis, N. Fla wasn't the cheapest and not the most expensive. Talking with my sales guy, Daniel, he been very helpful.
I am waiting to hear back from some folks on what the lot lease scene is like. There are several "trailer parks" here but have limited space. I am looking at a 28'-32' trailer with a screened in porch. The porch will be 8' and will just have a 6' santa maria style grill for my weekly specials (one or two at a time). I have a 16" flatbed trailer I am getting ready to drop a new diamond plate floor on and plan on taking that to gator pits and have Ritch build an over length predator on it. I have a buddy with welding skills that will screen that in for me. That is what I would like, the lease price and the NNN of having the added trailer will be a deciding factor, if that is just pie in the sky or the numbers look good in the business plan. Enough room for a couple 10'x20' pop up tents with walls and some tables so folks can sit down and keep out of the elements would be an added bonus.
I have budgeted for new equipment, but will be looking at auctions for purchases. I am leary of buying used and being stuck with junk, but I am taking the advise of those that have the experience. I'll post more updates as things progress. _________________ BearBonezBBQ Team and catering

bearbonz- I saw a brand new Gator on crsigslist this week. I remember last year Ritch was also trying to sell it for the company that had it built for a special project that was cancelled. It was never fired up and it is in Cypress TX. Might be a possibility and save you thousands. I found the link below. Hope this helps you out and it is just an idea. Good luck

Thanks for the heads up Ron. Wish I was ready for the purchase. That is a screaming deal for someone. I am going to have Ritch build the smoker on the trailer porch. Travis Co. requires that the smoker be screened in, so I have limited options. _________________ BearBonezBBQ Team and catering

Using two trailers ended up being more trouble and costly when it comes to lot lease and the NNN. I have drawn up plans and sent them to the trailer builder and hasking out the finer details. I am going to have a 30x8.5 trailer with a 20’ box and a 10’ porch.
a gator pit is going on the porch, it will basically be a predator with a 72” main and an insulated firebox. other side of the porch is a 24x60 santa maria grill. _________________ BearBonezBBQ Team and catering

I like it - my only concern would be tongue weight! Fridges and oven near axles, or will the weight of the pit offset???!! I dont know the answer here, but would recommend checking that with builder - there is one guy here on the ring where hitch specialists wouldnt sell him a hitch due to tongue weight.....wouldnt want to see another! He has a support trailer for his gen - not the end of the world, but not ideal either! _________________ Money Maker

Spoke with Ritch at Gator pits and estimated weight of the smoker will about 3500 lbs. I have relayed the weight and need to reinforce the porch. That is a good point and one I have not thought of. I will be putting in the equipment, so setting the fridge over the axles is a good idea. I can also switch placement of the fryer with the range to get that closer to the axles as well. _________________ BearBonezBBQ Team and catering

Looks like a nice size rig. Just another word of caution, however. Weight distribution of any trailer, especially of of this size will in fact be critical. Now is the time to do your homework - before the build. _________________ Lang 48 patio

Listen to the tongue weight comments. I am that guy tony mentions . Actually not having a gen PAC on the trailer is no big deal and would not add if doing over, I would g
Just get one to toss in the back of the truck. But anyway I don't like how you have to reach over the range to reach the drain boards. Also I would give thought on what you are going to use the appliances for. I wish I would have left out my flat top. The 2 ft is more valuable. Also I have a big proofer warmer, well it works great but I should have spent the extra cash on the True. Most of these are not insulated and it is freaking hot and turns the trailer into a sauna. Also it takes 14 amps... The true is insulated and runs on less than the power.
Good luck! |

| Nice looking flatbed trailer you are going to get ready for your smoker. The tongue weight is important, yes do your homework. Looking forward to the final results. |

Thanks for the tips. I should be getting an update on where we are at on the plans from the builder today. After reviewing, tongue weight will be on the next refinement. Still 2 months to get all the details hashed out. The holding cabinet I am looking at is the c5 metro. it is insulated with moisture control. I am not really interested in having a generator yet. I will be stationary. A generator option is in the further future if we decide to bother doing some events. As mentioned, I can just put a generator in the back of my truck _________________ BearBonezBBQ Team and catering

| Wow, sounds like you have it all figured out, can't wait to see the finished product. What about the axles? Will they be able to hole the weight of everything on the flatbed trailer? Maybe you need to get a patten on this. |
