Do you use a rib rack? What are the benefits?

More racks of ribs in the same space. I can get 6 racks in the space of 2.

Heck Kevin - the ribs spent their entire life on edge - no sense in you being on edge about em.....as far as needing thereapy, lets see - you spend the majority of your life striving to make dead animals taste better by perfecting cooking chambers, seasonings and time frames - sounds like the perfect therapy to me Bro!

In a word, yes. Razz Razz
Don't bother, it won't help. Shocked We all could use a check up, from the neck up, now and then, but...would you do anything different? Rolling Eyes

Manana, I have one, it rarely gets used. If I'm really tight on cooking space I'll use it, it is a real PITA to clean. I haven't noticed any difference in the way the ribs come out, I just prefer not to use it if possible. Very Happy

I'm fully qualified & certified ( or is that 'certifiable') to help people with phobias....

I think Mr. Tony's got the right idea though, go ahead on with his general plan & if nothing changes in 20 years or so
give me a call & we'll get that sorted out....
Most any 'Ringers, I'll work for free..... Very Happy

Far as rib racks, sometimes I've just lit too many kettles already ~~~>

Don't like to use them on the big ones, but narrow St. Louis
cut fit OK...

Must admit although I'm all psycological & stuff with this fobia stuff,
I still have a tiny nagging suspicion that all the good juice drips down to one edge, inside where you can't see it....... Twisted Evil

Never noticed any difference with taste, tenderness, juiciness

While it may not be the perfect set up for cooking ribs (I like mine to cook flat), the racks offer a way to cook a lot more in a smaller area. This here is twelve racks of St. Louis spares on an 18 inch WSM.

I use them once a year for our 4th of July party. Other then that, I like to leave them flat. Easier to sauce that way.

Try some bread cooling racks. That's what I did last time. Two racks will fit on one and I had a package of three.

I almost always have to use a rib rack in my kettle. The saucing is a pain, but the final product tastes just as good, though.

Problem solved?

That looks like a gas cooker. In which case the problems are just beginning.

That device looks like it will fit on any off-set if you are running out of room.

The problem solved was that the racks aren't on their edge...

1Buckie

How big are those ribs , they look much bigger and meatier than the ones I get ? I get spares at GFS , so far they seem to be better (and more cost effective) that other places.

It doesn't give measurements for it on the site. Or at least I couldn't find them. I wonder if that would fit on the akorn?

Nope.. its rectangular.. the Akorn is round.. Cant fit a square peg in a round hole.
