I have new grate on my smaller cooker..It is expanded metal (not SS like I wanted) anyway I cleaned them up on Sunday. Yesterday I go to check them out and there are a bunch of rust spots already..How can I prevent this? I use the cooker weekly and dont want to sink any more money into (ie SS racks)

After you clean it, coat it with a light mist of cooking oil.

I buy the cheap stuff(pam-like) and spay the grates after a little brushing before it cools too much. They stay nice an purdy.

Cooking oil works good to keep the hinges and air vents free as well.
