Don't know about anybody else, but I had a devil of a time finding cure (not in any local grocers, restaurant supply houses, butchers, etc). I know you can get it online, but I only wanted a small amount to play with and like to have a local retail outlet.

I finally found a cure at Bass Pro Shops (which happens to be 1/2 mile from my office). It was $2.99 for 4oz, but the package states that it is the same as Cure #1 and that 4oz is enough to cure 100 lbs of meat.

And now, I'm off to buy some bellies Very Happy

PTL,

4 ounces won't last that long once you taste how good DIY bacon is.

I suggest you try to keep it in its original container, and insise another container such as a canning jar, mark it well so it is not used by anyone by mistake, and toss it deep into a dark cabinet someplace, for safe keeping.
