Hey guys I'm new to the smoking thing. I've done some ribs and a brisket. The ribs were sauced and the brisket was marinated. Now I'm looking at a big piece of pork (don't know what as the father in law is bringing it) and I want to try a rub. The problem is that most rubs use cayenne, black or some other hot item and my wife can't do spicy. So I'm looking for a rub thats not spicy. Anyone got any idears? |

Build a rub with salt, sugar, paprika (for color not for spice), onion and garlic powder, touch of cumin or celery seed, pinch of dried rubbed sage.
3/4 cup Paprika
1/4 cup kosher or sea salt
1/4 cup Turbinado sugar
1 tbs Onion powder
1 tbs Garlic powder
1/2 tsp cumin (optional)
1/2 tsp celery seed (optional)
pinch of dried rubbed sage.
Mix together in a bowl, shake it over the pork, rub it in, shake on some more rest for an hour in the fridge, cook! _________________ Here's a change Robert.

Don't use the sage on the beef and substitute some chili powder. _________________ Here's a change Robert.
