It has been a long and hot summer and our patio project is nearing completion. With all the mess and turmoil I have not been able to BBQ anything of note for the last 8 weeks. Well it is time to christen our project properly with 30lbs of pulled pork!

Here are all my cookers finally in their own space. 6am and firing up the BGE today as rain was coming in quickly. (Hate using my stick burner in rain!

The butts (14lbs and #16lbs) are slathered and rubbed ready to go.

Checking the temps at 3pm

After resting for 2 hours they are ready to pull!

Very clean butts with very little fat or connective tissue...very easy to pull!

Ok now on to the story of my patio...

Last year we moved into a new house that we loved but we hated the back yard... It was overgrown, had a home built pond that leaked. The posts for the deck were buried without concrete footers and were rotting. It was a mess.

I knew we had to get the posts fixed asap or we could have a deck collapse on us pulling out everything it was attached to. My wife and I decided to dip into our rainy day fund and HELOC and build the patio of our dreams. 9 weeks later here are the results (minus a few finishing touches and a lot of leaves from the blow we had today)

The patio is now officially christened and the neighborhood BBQ parties are commencing. First order of business is to throw a cookout for our contractor and subs w/ their families to thank them for all their hard work. Those guys work so hard on these projects but never get a chance to actually enjoy the fruits of their labor. Throwing them a BBQ is the least I can do!

Now if I could just learn to hold my camera straight! Cool

That's a fine looking 'Patio' Laughing . Your subs will be thrilled if you invite them over for some good BBQ to thank them. Congrats on a very nice house.

Now you are just showing off. Fantastic looking pork, and that patio is something to be envious of. Congrats.
