I am currently changing cookers from a cabinet type to a pellet fired Memphis Pro.
I'm used to smoking my kielbasa in the cabinet type, where I could hang the sausage. With my new cooker I will have to lay the kielbasa on the racks.
Will I run into any problems doing this?
Thanks

Well, I'm in the same boat with some hot dogs I'm making. I'm going for it. I'll let you kmow how they come out.

Up until recently I racked all the sausage I smoked out of necessity, now I hang. The only difference I noted was the slight indentations on the sausages from laying on the racks. They still smoke and eat just fine!

Yep, small indentations, but otherwise worked out fine.

Have you considered a spit?

I'm certainly no pro at this, having only started making sausage a few months ago. That said, I've been building a small fire behind one coal rail in my Weber with charcoal and wood, and laying my kielbasa on the other end, away from the fire. I have found that in order to get a nice browning on both sides, I have to flip the sausage halfway through cooking. In my operation, it slowly browns on top, but the bottom stays "uncooked-looking". It gets a great smoke ring and tastes fantastic. So, for uniform color, I'd say flip occasionally, but it should work fine.

while I have no idea what your smoker looks like, cant you somehow put a rod across the rack hangers and then hang your sausage from there?

I remove all racks except the top one. Tie loop in the string and use a paper clip to make a hanger.
