How often do you guys that use mig welders change out the liner? I have a Millermatic 211 and haven't been able to find much guidance on this topic. |

I'm no expert, but unless the liner is bent or crushed or your having some sort of issue with the welding, there is no real reason to replace it. I have had my snap-on 140 for over 20 yrs now and never needed to replace the liner. |

I'm with EPC. unless you are having problems or ran a real lot of spools of wire thru her you shouldn't have to replace it. _________________ RF Smoker

I would say hardly anyone changes mig liners often enough.
Over time they get clogged with dust and copper from the wire. If you want to check the liner for feeding issues, turn off the machine, undo the spring clamp tensioner on the rollers, lay the gun lead out on the floor with the contact tip removed from the gun and push the wire with you fingers.
It should feed pretty easily without having to force it. If not replace it. |

FlyingJ , You shouldnt have any issues for quite some time. Machine that have the spool exposed can get bad. Also I use the felt roll's that clamp on the wire as it goes in the roll's. A cheap fix is to push the wire thru a few foam ear plugs. You would be amazed what comes off the wire. |

EPC and Maniac: Thanks for the reply. I agree with "don't fix it if it ain't broke:
Smokin Mike: Thank you for the link. Looks easy enough to tell if my liner is bad.
Blazer: Thanks for the tip on using a felt cleaner. That should help out a bunch. |

I agree with Blazer 100% The wire cleaners are the way to go. I run 2 on my wire just because and you would be surprised how much junk comes off the wire and the cleaners keep that from going into the liner. These are the ones I use...

Ive had my Miller 250 for 15+ years and use it heavy. I changed the liner maybe 2 or 3 times in that span. I did recently have to put an entire new lead on the machine, but that was no fault of the machines at all _________________ X2 Finished Build

I also use the wipers two at a time but I am sure I didn't pay $17.00 each for them. Check your local welding supply.

I found a more affordable option as well. About $10 per package of 6. |

Yeah that link was just a reference for the part itself, not what I would, or you should pay for them
I just couldn't find them on my airgas site when I was looking for them. Most times mine are free, Ive used the same place to buy wire for so long, they usually throw me a couple everytime I buy a roll of wire _________________ X2 Finished Build
