I have a motorhome and I am looking for more places to go to. We both love going to the BBQ Cookoffs or Festivals.

Which are the best and favorites ones to go to? I seem to miss them by having trips planned already somewhere else when they come up. So next year or even late this year I would like to schedule some BBQ trips. I live in SE Louisiana, so I would at least like to be somewhere in the South.

Are you a CBJ?... if not take a class, check out the events on www.kcbs.us and pick a route that takes you past the competitions you want to judge at!

Be sure and come to Memphis In May. May 14 - 16. It is the greatest contest and party in the country. Our team offers memberships to BBQ fans on the internet. We have people joining from all over the country and other countries as well. If you decide to come to MIM I encourage you to join a team so you are on the inside of the booth having fun and not on the outside just looking. We are a successful MIM team and walked the stage several times last year. If you are going to invest the time and travel cost to get there make sure you get the whole experience. If you or anyone else would like information on joining us for MIM go to our web site for all the information and an application. Good luck on your BBQ quest.

We (wife and myself) will be at the BBQ Cookoff this year. I already have my site at Graceland RV Park. I have been searching, but how would I get tickets to it? We plan on going to it Friday and Saturday.

Come visit us or play along in Marksville this year! The contest is March 13-14, in their RV park. Contact Amy at 337-240-6414 or asampson@tunica.org or check out www.bcabbq.org

reubenray- I would suggest that you consider joining a team to really get the experience of this festival. If not our team some other team. I talk with so many people at the contest who say I am not having a good time. We can not get any food from the teams (the health department will not allow teams to give food the the general public) and all we do is walk around and look at other people having fun. Please go to our web site http://www.toosaucedtopork.com/ and scroll down the front page to Doing Memphis In May On the Cheap if finances are a problem. You will get as much out of the festival as possible for the money you can spend. It is not as good as joining a team but it is the best if you do not join. While you are on the web site look at our guide to Memphis In May. It is on the side menu http://www.toosaucedtopork.com/guide-to-memphis-in-may-bbq-fest-a-k-a-mim-wcbcc/ . The direct answer to your question is you can buy tickets prior to the contest at the MIM web site http://www.memphisinmay.org/barbecue-tickets but you can just purchase them at the entrance. Always remember you can get in FREE on Thursday and Friday before noon.

We won't get there until Thursday afternoon and we are staying at Graceland RV park. Will I be able to catch a cab there to the Cookoff?

Also being we will not be able to spend the entire day each day at the cookoff I don't believe joining a team would work.

you should be able to get a cab there or at one of the hotels by Graceland. Be sure to stop by our booth and we will get you some food and adult beverage. Ask for Me (Mike or my son Neil). We are have a BBQ Brethren party Friday afternoon try and stop by and meet other people from the internet forums.

You have to check out the the too sauced to pork guys. I have visited with them many times and had a great time. Great hosts and a visit to MIM wouldn't be complete without stopping by and speaking to them. Pkerchef

We definitely plan on stopping by to visit with them. If we get to Memphis early enough we will go by there on Thursday. It would most likely be around 2 PM before we could get there. Would this be to late?

We had already planed on being at MIM Friday and Saturday.

Thursday is a big party night!!! We don't start to roll until 2pm. We will be going strong until midnight when they close the park. Thursday is the best night for parties because most competition doesn't start until Friday.

Cabs are all over by the festival. It takes place at the foot of Beale Street, the main tourist attraction in Memphis. Think Bourbon Street in New Orleans. This is where the blues were born and all the clubs have music. You have BB Kings and the Hard Rock Cafe at the entrance one block up from the festival.
