I have an opportunity to get one of these. I would need to tig weld with it, anodized aluminum.

What's the availability of a high frequency box for this machine?
Is it worth bothering with?

gandrfab Did a little asking at work and Googleing you can get them and you can run other HF boxes with a little mod to your I think 9 pin connectors boilermaker has the ranger and loves it he said it's a very steady machine. I wouldn't mind that in my back yard Wink

This I like to hear, thanks

I'm a T-top and tower builder that can currently only weld on boats on trailers. Big boats on the water here I come.

I have had 2 people tell me it would be better to go with a tig inverter then a HF box, I have zero experience with an inverter welder that would run off the genset I just got.

Ganderfab, if your ranger isn't setup with a pin plug for a remote then that would have to be added on. Then a high freq. box. As far as an inverter machine, not all have ac,hf on them and to get one that will do what you want without pulling to many amp's for your ranger's generator...... Tough call. Maybe a spool gun might be your best route.? I do know that aluminum welded with 4043 when anodized will turn black. Use 5356 Very Happy

Anodized aluminum needs to be tig welded, I have tried miging it once on a duck boat (I was in a hurry) and the boat was a pos.
