After suffering with a POS Harbor Freight clamp, I decided to break bad and spend some money on something that might actually work.
Looking forward to getting her dirty.

Thanks Maniac. Yep, not too far off from starting a new project and burning some wire.
Thanks gandrfab. I got a set of the magnets also. A man just can't have too many tools
Thanks Kevin. I'm cleaning out the garage today so I can make a place for it. Yeah, it's that bad. _________________ My current cookers: 80 gallon vertical tank

Nice addition. My son asked me once what else he needed for welding. I told him more clamps. As you are learning you need all you can get and after you are more proficient you will use all you can get. |

I have worked with clamp abusers.
I don't use very many at all.
The clamp happy people have asked me.
"How do you do it, do you just wish stuff together?"
Most of the time I hold it with my hand, tac. and
Adjust as it as it's going together. |

I woulda bet a pay check you weren't gonna wish that hitch on this boat trailer.
Every one of those clamps had a purpose while I put that hitch on. "Work smarter not harder" _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

On aluminum pipe I use a wood wacker.
Aluminum sheet and steel I use hammers.
A lot of time wasted when using to may clamps. |

Example, my 1st 10 years of welding was working for others.
My production and quality work was almost double of just about anybody that worked around me.
But I didn't get double the pay, that is one of the biggest reasons I'm self employed now. |

I stand by my original post.
"I woulda bet a pay check you weren't gonna wish that hitch on this boat trailer."
I have been fabricating for over 30 years 10 of those years was my own shop fabricating oilfield trucks. I can promise you with the tweaks I had to put on those frame rails to meet that A frame hitch no hammer was going to help you there.
But you can keep on believing you're that special we won't hold it against you. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Sure I still get jobs that are a pain.
Most of my work is custom one off kind of stuff.
Makes me the sales man, engineer, planner, builder and so on.
Now that I have a shop at a airport and started welding on airplanes.
I get to not be the engineer, every fix is written in books I just have to do it right. |

My name is Smokin Mike and I am a clamp abuser.
I hereby solemnly swear that the next time I decide to spend my own hard earned money on something as silly as a clamp, that I will abide by the terms and conditions of the Clamp Abusers Association.

I am a lone wolf in my shop. To this day, I have yet to receive a reply to my request " Hey, hold that for a second, would ya?" I figure I have " MacGuyvered " a way to make up for lack of a third hand more than McDonalds has made hamburgers. No way I could have ever gotten much done without my C-clamps and magnets. Yah, I need more. Smokin Mike, FWIW... Stillwell Chuck has an awesome assortment of clamps. _________________ Backyarder

Nice collection Smokin Mike I would take a pic of all my clamps but the Bear would come in here and bust me for my pics being too big Yep, I have that many clamps. A true fabricator knows that if a clamp can act like an extra set of hands, why not have a few on hand. One that brags about how great they are usually aren't that great
ganderfab, since you talk TIG all the time, Im wondering how you hold the material with one hand and tack with the other _________________ X2 Finished Build

Roll your eyes, I have worked with over 100 welders.
I'm sure some are faster and better but they would be few and far between. |
