The local farmers market last week and one of the vendors had hickory smoked salt.
In about 15 minutes Uncle Google and help me figure out a plan......here it goes....
Two pan splatter shields. Foil around to help dirvert smoke.
This was 2 cups of kosher salt total.
Hickory pellets in the Amazing Smoker.
I'll check it in the am. _________________ Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these Barbecuists from the slow completion of their appointed foods….. |

Well that didn't work so well. This was after 8 hours.
This was after 16 hours. I didn't stir the salt.

After 24 hours.
I made some of the best looking copper smoke smelling foil!
I am now trying sea salt. I misted it with a small amount of water to help the smoke stick.

You gotta stir that salt around. The smoke does not penetrate the salt. It sticks to the outside. _________________ My trash cans just outcooked your Jambo!

What temp did you smoke it at?
I've done a few dozen batches and have noticed that cold smoking works the best to get the smoke into the salt mineral. Heat smoking actually works against you with salt. . .
