I'm looking to buy a small to medium size grill. My only requirements are that it is a quality grill and has cast iron grates. The rest is up you guys at the ring.Be gentle with me. _________________ Weber Q grill

Not quite sure why you're attached to cast iron grates, but my Weber Performer has been a superior grill for both grilling and has stood in for my NB smoker for almost 2 years now with stellar results.
I've always balked at the price of a Weber before and have purchased cheaper grills that left me wanting. This time I got the Weber I wanted and it has not only outlasted the cheaper models (with no sign of giving it up yet), but the features have left me happy in any number of cooking situations. |

The Weber kettles are hard to beat for value and performance.
They offer a variety of sizes and features to match most budgets or needs.
Why the desire for cast iron grates? _________________ Big Tom

BT, I figgered I would get a little more life out of the cast grates versus the wire type but it isn't cast in stone. Just shopping. _________________ Weber Q grill

Understood.
I saw in a lowe's sale flyer in todays paper they have a couple of charcoal models on sale with cast grates.
I usually replace the cooking and charcoal grate on my 22" kettle every couple years for around $50. _________________ Big Tom

In that case, I very much like these:

And you can cut a cast iron grate for a gasser to fit. |

I have a chargriller outlaw 24 X 36 that has cast iron grates & works as a smoker or grill depending on where you build the fire.
Lowe's has the smaller 30" version. |

ORRR, you could buy the best (WEBER) and get the cast iron grate with grill attachment. VERY hard to find, but I found one here locally and they have at least another 5 in stock. Problem is the CI costs $$, you're looking at about 50 bucks. Then again, there are also grates that you can probably cut and get to fit your Weber. Lots of decisions to make! |
