That is a nice looking smoker. Very fuctional looking.
Is the firebox area in the base? I saw the door in the base, but I did not see any vents. Adjustable vents in the firebox area really help adjust the temp. Course, you could use the door as the vent.
Also, The temp guage looks a little high. You may want to consider moving the guage down to level with the grill. It will give you a more acurate reading of the temp around the meat. I had to do this on my smoker.
These are just observations that may help. All in all, that smoker should be able to crank out great Q as is.
Enjoy,

Do you fire that pit directly on that nice wood deck? Seems to me that could be a problem of the combustable kind... |

BBQ, nice work!! Now comes the fun part of breakin' it in. I recommend keepin' a close eye on it, with plenty of cold ones close by, in case things get outta hand(if you know what I mean) _________________ Mike

Get yourself on of those 30" square concrete patio stone to set that puppy on so you dont end up have the firedepartment arriving unexpected. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

Nice job Blitz!
Just a after thought.... but if you have problems controling the heat you could fashion you a water pan and have the best of both worlds, this would help to control heat like the WSM cookers or the brinkmann water smokers. Ya know put a water pan about a foot or so over the heat on a stand or grate of some kind...... just a thought.
Anyways the fun is just starting if ya have any troubles just give a shout, there is a lot of part time pit builders here on the "ring".
Looks good though, have fun............... |
