Just want to give all you folks a big thank you on all of your help with my little chicken problem. With your input I changed my chicken recipe and method and it sure paid off at a comp this weekend!!!

2nd chicken
1st brisket
2nd ribs
5th pork
reserve grand champion

missed grand by less than 2 points

cooked at dyersburg, TN West TN BBQ assoc Non sanctioned---kcbs rules but meat only in the box--3 contests per year ( tiptonville, ridgely, and dyersburg) avgs between 15-25 teams nice run little contests thats all 1 hour from home

the chicken recipe is fairly easy--trim chicken, put on smoker, sauce and put in blind box. ( really I promised the person I would never reveal his/her secret) If it wasn't for that I would let you know, but momma told me never to lie Laughing
One thing i can tell you is I used Sa-mokins sauce with a little honey, apple juice, and pilliteries steak rub (kind of like cavendars) mixed in. Sa-mokin sauce gives the chicken a perfect color, by the way.

I wasn't looking for details of the process just wondering what changed.
