Planted some Tomatoes,Green Beans, Bell Peppers,Jalapenoes,Calliflower,Broccoli,Eggplant, brussel sprouts. My other garden is to wet to work up. I sewed some radishes and some leaf lettuce a couple weeks ago as shown up front. I might add that i use straw because it helps to keep my weed population down and conserves moisture in the beginning of summer.

With our recent warm weather, (mid to upper 70's last week) some newbies to the area decided to plant their gardens. I wonder what our recent 4" of snow did to those little seedlings?
Nothing goes outside here until memorial day weekend! and your chancing it by planting that early! Our growing season is shrt in days, but long in hours of sunlight per day. In June and July, it is common to still be light outside near 10:00 P.M.

I use the planters moon here as a gauge for planting. The planter’s moon is the last full moon in May and is early this year on May 9. I have never lost a garden due to frost using this rule of thumb (knock on wood).

We don't even think of putting anything in the ground around here until the May 24th weekend, and even then it's touch and go.I will plant some onion bulbs soon, they are pretty safe.

KAM, when the thunder boomers came in late last night, I was thinking of your garden and how I wouldn't be able to mow grass today. Sure enough I woke up to standing water in the yard. I need to get some loads of sand because the only thing I can grow in my backyard is crawfish mounds.

HarvestMoon, those were some fierce lightning shows last night, I got ready to cut grass yesterday evening and asked Mrs.K.A.M. to run the mower while I tilled the garden rows, well 30 feet into the mowing she slung a rod in the mower engine, and 1000.00 later I have a new mower and wet grass, go figure.
