What a coincidence.... I am currently smoking 2 pork butts, a turkey breast, a fattie, some ABT's, and Apple Pie Baked Beans in Oklahoma city.

If the wind switches around from the north any time today. You might get a whiff of it in Norman. Laughing

Shoot me a PM if you'd like to meet up and eat some Q while you are here.... I have several favorites we could go to or about 5 places that have opened up recently that I would like to try.... Your pick.

Oh....Stay away from Rudy's in Norman.... Both times I've been there I was disappointed.

Ray's Smokehouse wasn't bad the time I went there and Darrol Ray is super friendly..... He's a former Sooner football player and I went in there wearing all my KU colors and he came over and we chatted about sports and Q for about 30 minutes.

go to Van's in Norman first, it's pretty good for Q but the original in Shawnee is better.

van's is "ok" for restaurant.

And skip the one by our famous WWF guy, while he's got a great company behind the concept and money, he needs someone to teach him how to Q.

We didn't hook up last time, maybe one evening for dinner would work.

Yep, gotta agree that the Van's in Shawnee is better than any of the other locations.

Do have to say that the last time I ate at the Van's at 59th & Western that it was about as good as restaurant Q can get that day. The ribs had a good smoke flavor and they pulled away from the bone right where you bit them.

Well the BBq festival was a bust. Turned out it was good blues music and one vendor selling Pulled pork sandwiches by themselves for $8. I spent 10 minutes there and then decided to go to the Spaghetti Warehouse. Got back to the hotel and the news flashes about a tornado and people on I-35 and highway 9 should take cover immediately. So I looked out my window and .... wait a minute, my hotel is at I-35 and highway 9! Just then the siren goes off (which apparently is next to the hotel). Well the tornado went past us before touching down which is good because we are in the penthouse and really did not have a shelter to go to.

So you didn't get the $8.00 pork sammie? Laughing Laughing Laughing

Glad you didn't get hit by the twister Mike....................Life in the penthouse can be tough going.
