I'm going to an auction next week and saw this listed I know nothing about a welder and have welded since the late 70's and that was an arc tombstone welder,so My question is what should I look for in a used welder I'm sure it won't be turned on so are there things I should look at?what is a good price limit for a used Hobart Model 135 Handler wire feed welder w/ tank? _________________ Good BBQ is all smoke and beers!

I have the 140 Handler and am assuming it's pretty darn close to the same thing.
You'll note it is a 110v welder, and will only do up to 1/4". I'd really say, 1/8" is the max maybe 3/16 with eaze.
I say anything between $200 and $250 would be a good deal. You can buy a new 140 for $475 or so.
Make sure it comes with the regulator and all. If you can test it (which I don't think you can), make sure it fires up, the wire feed works good etc. Also take a look at the tip and or the gun tip/shield thingy. Those might need to be replaced which will cost about $20 or so total. Make sure it comes with the wire adapter for the larger 10lb spools. I hate the 2lb spools for normal wire, burn through them too quick and more expensive.
Not much help, this is my first welder, but I've welded up my entire vertical insulated smoker with it (pictures will be posted when I finish it in a few weeks). And it's done me very well.

+1 ryan cassidy a used welder is usually a good buy most of the time ppl get rid of the because they lose interest if that’s the case it would be a great buy now if they are getting rid of it to buy a bigger model they might have abused the smaller one and found that it wont do what they need it to do _________________ Club Disco
