I have a small flatbed trailer I'm reworking to hold a smoker. The old wiring was pathetic so I tore it all out. I don't need anything fancy, just a 4-wire setup, but I am really dissatisfied with the actual wiring harnesses sold by the trailer companies. I want a solidly molded 4-wire flat plug, bonded permanently to a round wire with sturdy insulation. What I see is a cheap crimped-on setup going directly onto wires split in midair, a terrible design. Most guys use electrical tape which then peels off and looks terrible. Anyone know where I can get a good quality 4-wire trailer wiring harness?

I use the regular ol' store bought set but use crimp tool connectors and shrink tube encased by pvc tubing

At the pigtail end on my plugs I also use heat shrink tubing but I like to solder my connections before hand. I also solder the connections at the lights and use shrink tubing there. If you use electrical tape buy 3-M super 33 tape( its not cheap). It will not unravel on you, I have some on the bow of my boat holding a wire loom shut that has been there for five years.

I got mine at Wilco farm store. Its made by Hopkins towing solutions, made in Mexico instead of ch ch ch china. Its a flat 4 molded into a 18' long wiring harness, both male and female connetions are included. No BS untill you get to the lights. Part #48245.

They sell the vehicle wiring kits that allow you to plug into the wiring harness on your vehicle and connect to the trailer also.

I havent put mine on yet but as soon as I get some fenders I will.

Ya know where I can get some good cheap steel fenders?

If you have a Redneck Trailer Supply close by you anywhere, that is where I get all of my trailer parts and they have some nice wiring harness setups.

LMAO Seattlepitboss, there ya go. Getting a response from someone with your username in a cooker section would be kind of expected but to get a guy with "trailermaker" for a username to respond for a trailer question is just too darn funny. Laughing Sounds like a good unit Trailermaker
