Thanks for the tips Orson. I tested the hygro and seasoned the humidor. I am at a steady 65 - 68 for about 5 days now. All seems well. I think my next move will be to sample single cigars at my local shop to see which ones I like before ordering any quantities. I Liked reviewing the thread to see what others prefer. I prefer mild for the most part. Wish I had this a couple of months ago when I was in Serbia and could get Cubans. Well, there is always next year.
One question. I have a leather 2 finger carry case and plan to bring a couple with me on a trip later in the week. Will likely spend about 2 days in the case. Do I season the case like the humidor or will the cigars properly store for that period? I was thinking of putting a saturated cloth in the case for 24 hours before but maybe that is overkill? _________________ Pat

Im not sold on the coppers...Im not a fan of flavored cigars (although I would think that the Amaretto would make the copper interesting) You get those through Cigar International? Or some other online retailer? _________________ BBQ is like sex...

I just got in a box of Perdomo Slow Aged 826 Murduro - WOW what a great stick for 2 bucks. The burn is a bit uneven but the flavor and creamyness of the smoke is excellent. I may have to order more of these sooner than I thought! _________________ BBQ is like sex...

Got them threw C.I. . My dad drives down from Upstate N.Y. and stops in PA at the C.I. store to get me a few "supplies" . . _________________ Ducane 304 SS 5brnr

Currently I've been smoking Gran Habano Corjo #5, ONYX and a few others. I normally order from C.I. or go to the local Tinder Box. _________________ Time to send up some SMOKE signals

Got a couple of Rocky Patel brands in recently. Got the Indian Tobbac classic 7.5'x55 (nice flavor but poorly constructed)
and the Gran Puro Cubano 5.5'x52 (Nice med-full smoke, good flavor and well constructed) Definately the better of the two smokes! _________________ BBQ is like sex...

Was in Niagara Falls over the weekend and bought some Cuban Monte Cristos, Cohibas and I forget the other one. Walked in and found they were about $26 each. I would have bought 2 and left but wife was with me and pushed me to buy a 1/2 dozen. Ok, I am blessed. How many of you go to the smoke shop with your wife and she tells you to buy more? _________________ Pat

Same thing happened to me.
J.R. Cigar had cigars from Ghurka East India Ltd. on special several years ago. They came in a really nice, ceramic box. I showed my wife them online, and asked if she wanted ant as a tea caddy, as she is a tea-drinker. I ordered a couple.
They came, and she told me to buy more. I bought a total of five.
I showed it to our English neighbor, and she took one. her daughter took one, too.
These are the boxes ...

Nice! I can see why she would want the box. How were the cigars? _________________ Pat

My wife is like that. Then again she loaded up with a ton of ice wine from the Niagra winerarys....no complaints from me
Funny when I was in Niagra a few years ago the cigars I found along the main strip where in horrible shape, dried out, wrapper was peeling...no thanks. Glad to hear you found some decent sticks.
Speaking of better halfs...My wife picked me up a couple of sampler bags from Thompson...eh...I have mixed results with them. I don't care for thier house brands at all but my wife, she trys.
I did try a Don Rafael (the lable/ring) reminded me of the Davidaoff logo....Since it was a sampler, I don't know what exact cigar it was but ooked to be about a 42 or 44 ring size and about 6" long. nice smooth mellow smoke. _________________ Andy

Since it is freezing out and we have a ton of snow I stocked up on some cigarillos from CI so I can get a quick smoke in without catching pneumonia. Letting them acclimate in the humidor now and will probably break out over the weekend. _________________ Pat

It's been surreal here in the Toronto area, very mild. I've had the pleasure of smoking some great cigars over the last few days. Even managed to wash the car yesterday smokin' a Vegas Robaina Famoso. |
