Due the to interest in my idea I will go ahead an coordinate the E/W Throwdown! If you are interested please post your willingness and which team you will be participating on. I will compile the official team list from this list.

Entries will be accepted until Aug 11, official team list posted here on Aug 12. I will start a new thread to collect the throwdown pics on Friday Aug 13 - Monday Aug 16.

Voting will commence when 1) everyone has submitted or 2) Evening of Monday Aug 16 and poles close Saturday evening Aug 21.

Rules - (Updated 8/2/10)
You sign up indicating east or west of the Mississippi. The team will be made up of an equal number of contestants (i.e if there are 5 east and 6 west the last entry from the west would be available as an alternate but would not participate otherwise)

- The target meats would be restricted to the primary KCBS meats(Brisket, Pork butt, Chicken, and Ribs)
- Presentation should be on a single platter or tray where the results are shown in one cohesive presentation. Take some time and dress up your platters like you were going to have your picture be showcased on FoodTV magazine!
- No restrictions on portions, garnish (other than non-KCBS meats)or serving size. Remember that the meat should still be the primary focus of your platter.
- You can present 1 or any combination of meats in the four categories in a single entry. (you can just show ribs if you want)
- Any meats other than the 4 KCBS categorys are considered illegal and will be disqualified. ( So save your sausage and lamb for a different throwdown)
- Contestants will post up to three (3) pics of their platter and one (1) pic of their game face.

Voting will be on individual platters and voters would be instructed to vote only on the final platters and not any other pics. You vote for the platter that best diplays the meat and looks the most appetising. The whole composition of the platter will be judged, meat, garnish, appearance, and overall effect of the presentation. We should be able to put up the winner's platter picture on a billboard on the interstate and cause a pile up from all the drool on the road!

At the conclusion of voting all scores for each region would be combined.

There will be two winners... 1) for overall best platter and 2) for best team.

Exclamation May the best team win!

I am in, but a bit confused. So, we just consult with our team members on what we are going to cook. Then we each cook individual items. Then we submit our team cook, right? Then we weed out invididual people from each team with votes, correct? If I understand correctly, I am in!!! And GO WEST SIDE!!!!

Another quick question. The target meats are KCBS meats, but are we presenting them in KCBS turn in style i.e. just meat? Or, let's say for pork, can the entry be a pulled pork sammie, or the chicken in a salad?

The only mop and bucket I'll be using will be to apply my 'Slap Your Western Neighbor's A$$' mop sauce. That is, after the 'Beast from the East' rub is applied, of course Wink

You are not required to consult with anyone...just present your best platter. This is both an individual and a team event. You will collect votes for your individual prresentation. Those votes will also count towards the team totals.

Rules for this event is to present yoru meat on a single platter with no restrictions on garnish. If your side item is on the platter as a garnish and enhances the visual aspects of the item then go for it!
