Thank You Blazer, We would welcome the rain with open arms. My Old Mill is my thinking beer after a hard day I grab a can of inspiration sit down and stair at the build and if I felt like the day went wrong or to slow I may grab two.
Thank You Hotdog, You can always move to Texas my Friend. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Thank You ecto1, I cant wait to see it in action either.
I got the warming chamber welded out today I also installed the slide damper and drain for the warming chamber.
Pic of the drain from the inside.
The slide damper closed.
A look from the cooking chamber side.
Some open pics.
The drain from the outside.
I cut the lower edge off the nipple so a full drainage can occur.
The ball valve I will use.

looks great, that is exactly what I was going to suggest on the slide damper. I had not seen the warming box yet and I thought the smoke would come in from the bottom. I think this will work excellent. with likely enough heat coming from the firebox already. I like it! _________________ Big Ron

| What are you guessing the temp variance between the main chamber and the warmer? During these Texas cold snaps you that may be one mean fish smoker. |

Thank You Cody, You can try anytime you like my Friend.
Thank You Mike.
Thank You Ron, pics are worth a thousand words my Friend.
Thank You ecto1, I am hoping for the same results that I achieved with the R/F in my signature. The warming chamber runs between 140° and 155° when the main chamber is idling at around 250° _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

k.a.m., looking good as usual.
You lost me on cutting the lower edge off the nipple?
Did you just cut the end, that usually is burred , or notch down 90degrees to the threads?
The slide damper looks great.
Looking forward to updates. |

Thank You GF, I clamped the pipe nipple in my vise and at the end of the threads cut through the nipple about 3/16". I then cut perpendicular to that cut making a notch so when I set the nipple in the hole it had no edge to stop liquids from leaving the chamber. I hope this makes sense. If not I will take a close up pic for you. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

OK OK.... Is this thing ever going to get done?
You sure do know how to add on stuff!
Just get it done so we can go and cook!
I have an idea, You get this project done by The Harris County Fair and we'll head out that way and cook with Big Ron and make get third place!
What's the sand blasting bill on that thing going to be? _________________ Zilla

Thank You zilla, It is always a pleasure to see you posting my Friend. I guess by now you have figured out the build grew a little. I don't think I am going to make the fair deadline my Friend but I would love to come root y'all on. The blasting and painting will be anywhere from 800.00 to 1200.00 if I am lucky.
When Debbie and I get to competing you and Ron should get used to sharing second and third first will be taken.
Thank You icecoldkicks, The drain on the warmer is 1". _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.
