Thank You Cody, Very Happy Yes for two days straight I was being annoyed by y'all s cold front.
Now I have high pressure and 50 mph north winds. Laughing

Thank You ckone.

Thank You chi-town smoker 2, I had to come up with a way to keep the pieces at a right angle
while staying at 22.5į angle. The scrap angle iron worked well. Smile

Soapm, the expanded metal pieces are drops from previous builds I had. I did not want to cut
into a new piece so I decided to use what I had. I figured the length of the pieces to fit nearest
to a 17'' diameter basket and still be able to connect the end of the expanded metal. You will not
find this at HD. it is #9- 3/4'' flat expanded. The heaviest HD sells is I believe 13 gauge.

So what kind of place would I find the heavy stuff and how would I bend it into a circle? Will. #13 work ok for a basket and what's the best way to cut it if you don't have a torch?

Soapm, if you have a fabrication shop or sheet metal shop nearby they might have some drops you can buy at a reasonable price. I have built two baskets using the 1/2'' 13 gauge for the sides from HD and they are both still going strong. For precision cuts like baskets I use my angle grinder and cut off wheel. You can use a piece of angle iron clamped to a table and lay the piece on it. Then using a hammer tap and roll the piece between where the angle and table meet you will form a circle this way. I use a piece of 18'' pipe and force the pieces inside it and tap them into a circle. I hope this helps. Smile

Damn Kevin you know and I know that the octagon will never work in this manner. In fact you donít even need a charcoal basket all you really need is something that will hold the charcoal in a basket like manner. (Iím using a charcoal basket in my UDS) I just want everyone to know that you donít really need one. When building and octagon charcoal basket one word comes to mind Thermodynamics. You must ask yourself what is Thermodynamics. Well it is the science of energy conversion involving heat and other forms of energy (you should have leered this in grammar school). Next you need to think about isothermal process and how that is going to be effected (Iím sure you never even considered this) Shocked

LOL J/K cant wait to see this one Kevin Very Happy i just wanted to stand on a soap box once Wink

Thank You Denny, Very Happy For a minute there I was going to go home and scrap it. Shocked Maybe build one in the shape of a triangle. Laughing Then it will only need three legs. Idea
