Hi guys, it’s been a while since I posted anything about my build. I am still on it (15 months now) but getting close to being able to at least see some smoke come out of her.
I have a question that I need you opinion on about her.
I bought a used 16 foot tandem axel trailer to set her on. I have the legs on it (as of this last weekend) and cut plate to go from side to side under the feet. These plates are 35” long and 5” wide. I cut angle iron under the trailer and cut cut these with the braces and welded them in place. Then I used ½” hardened bolts and bolted her downand have this done in 6 places. The firebox sits around 4” off the floor of the trailer and the warmer box sits (to the bottom) 14” up and around 54” to the top. I have this sitting on the right side of the trailer. I do not have anything built on the left side of the trailer yet.. Do you think I will have to worry about the trailer tipping to the right side as it is?
I would love to take it to an upcoming event but don’t want to chance it if you think it is not safe..
I appreciate the help.

Mikeydidit, your cooker looks Great very nice work. The only thing I would change is the trailer area under the firebox. I would replace that area with expanded metal removing the wood entirely.
You can measure the distance between the spring and trailer frame on each side to determine if you should replace the springs with heavier ones. My bet is if your springs are not weak or broke you will be good to go.
I hope this helps. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks guys. I'll be under the trailer this morning and I will check the springs out.
I'm guessing KAM that you are worried about the heat under the firebox. Before i fire her up i am lining the bottom of the firebox with fire brick to cut down on the heat. Do you think that is going to cut the heat down enough? I'll try to take a few more pics today.
Not sure if you remember me KAM (you help so many here) but you helped me get this started. A lot of your ideas are here. And your words on the phone have kept me on this. I think I have more time on this than my first marrage.. But this one is working out. _________________ Weekend cook

Mikeydidit, I have slept a bit since then but I remember. The firebrick should do the trick on the heat issues.
I look forward to seeing some more pics and updates
