I made a new stand for my turkey fryer. I have a high pressure burner and it sits 2.5 inches below the top that holds the pot. I had a small portable stand, but wanted something that was higher and easier to work with. I got the bright idea to get a 20" disc (you all made me envious). I want to weld a small piece of 2.5" inch pipe to the bottom of the disk, it should fit into the center of the stand. Think it will work? If so, any ideas on how far from the burner it should be? I'm going to try and add a picture, this is my first picture try, it could go alot of different ways, please bear with me. Thanks.

GF, Very nice work on the stand. If the 2.5" is going to be for a slip fit into the center pipe on your stand then I would only make it as deep as the burner pipe. I would just tack it into place and test fire the disco to see if you have any problems carrying the heat outward. These are just my thoughts. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Mrs. K.A.M., thanks for the compliment. I think I have it all set.
Here is the bottom of the disk. The 2.5" pipe fits pretty well.
Here is a close up of the handle. I also added a 1" lip around the top.
This is the disk on top. A little cleanup and seasoning, and I should be all set.
K.A.M., thanks for your suggestion, it worked out very well. I will post pics of the first cook, if it ever stops raining around here. |

Now that I finally saw the sun I managed to get everything out of the basement.
After seasoning with some bacon, and a wipe off, I added some skirt steak, rubbed and marinated with lime.
I added some onion and peppers to cook down.
When everything was cooked I warmed some flour tortillas, and topped the steak with sour cream, homemade salsa, and guacamole.
It didn't come out bad for a first try. The salsa and guacamole need some work, but you gotta start somewhere. |

How I missed this post is beyond me! I really like the
set up - especially the "spin" factor you've created
with your seating, and those handles look well placed
and comfortable. Great job all around! _________________ Family, Q, Fishing, & Wishing.
