Here's a dumb question.
What dictates which side the smoke stack is mounted? I've seen some cookers with the stack on the same side as the fire box, I've seen some mounted in the middle of the cooker and some mounted on the opposite side of the fire box.

I ask because I would like to build a smoker out of a 120 gal tank and just curious to know if there is a set reason on where the smoke stack needs to be located.

Reverse flow has the stack on the firebox side. If you run tuning plates then the stack is on the opposite end.
