Denny,
Thank you my friend, that means alot to me coming from a brother with your skills! How is your build coming along?

Troy,
Sorry for the wait bro... Here's your pics (a ton of them! Shocked ) as promised.

Ringers,
She has been in paint for about 2 weeks, I just couldn't get to it to get her finished... I got her together this weekend, so here are some more build pics and finished pics.

Made Bruce a hook for his basket.

It works like this. (Thanks for the help Kevin!)

Welded a little country bling on the lower end of the stack.

Added a handle to the drain cap.

More country bling for the intake.

Added a Trailerbuilder ID and serial number.... Thanks brother Troy!

Got her ready to burn off the paint.... Ya know a good strong basket can have many uses. Laughing

Burn job.

After the burn job we needed to get the spots that were hard to get to, so we got my Dad's sand blaster and went after'm. Bruce blasting his cooker.

After looking at KAKid's build one morning, I made one more change. Thanks kid!

After burn, blasting, sanding, acid bath and one coat of paint.

That's for build pics... on to the finished pics! Cool

Lower part of intake.

Stack

Intake with thermo port open.

Intake with thermos in holders.

I.D. and ser number after paint.

More random pics...

Last one!

Thanks for looking! Very Happy

Truly sweet build, and attention to detail (regardless of how long it took). Wink Laughing Thanks, you're definitely gonna like having somplace to store the therms. Don't let anyone rush you into getting it dirty....take the whole hour if you want. Cool

PDS is the correct term and that is what they call setting the bar high. Beautiful work there Chuck! Very Happy

KAKid,
Thanks bro!
I didn't know where I was going to add the holders, I had just enough room on the intake. Bruce likes the way they look there. I like the pic too!

Maniac,
Thank you my friend!
The basket is real heavy, 25.5 pounds dry and with the handle almost 31 pounds... Bruce asked for the second handle and I agree it was a needed add on, it's only 3.5" off center and the handle never gets to a truely vertical position, so it works perfectly... Some day I may get one of those baskets with a fancy a$$ K.A.M. hook setup made for me! Laughing

ernie,
Thank you!

Thank you my friend, that means alot to me coming from a brother with your talents!
I was just wondering who the few others were? I think I would like to keep the bar set at the low position, that way I don't disappoint you and the mysterious (very) few others. Laughing Thanks for your help on this one Kevin, it's good to know that you are just a phone call away when I'm trying to do something the hard way! Laughing

Mike,
Thanks my friend!
It was good to talk with you today and catch up.
As builders go you are one of my favorites and I do appreciate your post sir! Cool

GF,
Thank you bro! and thanks for staying with us on this build.
Bruce hasn't seen it all put together yet... he is busy this week. He is going to pick it up Friday.

Damn Chuck, you have outdone yourself this time brother. That thing is a work of art dude. I know for a fact, since I got frustrated phone calls, that you put everything you had in this build with the details, and my friend, the hard work shows. Very nicely done Chuck Cool

Just hope you saved a small trick or two for mine??Remember space shuttle Laughing

Troy,
Thank you my brother! I love these projects because I learn a ton of stuff about metal work. I want to thank you for your help with my mig welding, ideas I stole, the torch and all the fabrication tips you helped me with... even with the Trailerbuilder supportline being offline from time to time, this build would have been alot harder without you! Laughing
I am a big fan of your work my brother and your post means alot to me, thanks again!

Chuckied, I followed your thread and I gotta say very nice work buddy. Have you had a chance to burn this baby any more? Reason I ask is because I'm building mine very similar to yours with the 3" intake pipe. Just curious if it was as efficient as the standard 3/4" pipe/ball valve intakes on other UDS's that are set it and forget it over an extended period of time.
Thanks bud,
James

BamaSmokin,
Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I have not been able to hang out on the Ring much. Thank you and I'm glad you like Bruce's rig. Bruce is waiting on me to give him some uds lessons before his first cook, sadly he may have to wait a couple more weeks...

I don't see a problem with the cooker holding a temp for an extended period of time, she did well on her test burn, even with a few air leaks. The reason for the big intake was to be able to get the temp up, sometimes when its real hot my uds seem to want to stay at a certain temp with all three 1" pipes wide open. If I need to get the Q done a liitle quicker I can't, so I went for a one large intake with much greater air volume. Most of the time I only use one ball valve on my uds so this is overkill, but its there if he has a mob of people waiting to eat and needs to the bbq done a little faster. The ball valves on the bottom of the drum aren't for me, with a slider you can see exactly how much you are increasing the air flow opening. Wink
I will post some first cook picks as soon as we cook on it and I hope this helps.

Jonnyrod,
Thank you my friend, I'm glad you like it! Cool
I really wanted him to have a nice cooker, so I did him up the best I could.
