|
|
Finally was able to cook on the discada! I had some unexpected stuff pop up I had to take care of that caused a delay but now I can fire it up!
Deer tenderloin and deer steaks.
Added buttermilk to sit overnight.
Next day rinsed them off.
Chopped the deer meat up into little cubes.
A couple cans of green chiles and some green chile powder.
mmmmmmmm!
Put a little oil and butter in a cast iron skillet.
Browning the meat.
Added some green chile powder.
Added the chiles.
Smells great!
Time to season the discada.
Added water.
Bringing water to a boil.
The Smoke Ring sticker lasted about three weeks then faded.
Once the water boiled for a while at high temps I dumped the water out and lightly coated the disc with oil.
Added oil to get hot for the taters.
A happy man!
Taters added.
Move the taters up the disc.
Add the deer and chiles.
Man, this stuff smells great cooking!
Loved cooking on the discada! It rocks! Thanks Denny it is a great piece of gear and solidly built. Worked great!

My Smoke Ring sticker on my Lang is in pretty rough shape too...the one on my laptop is holding up pretty good to all the drooling I do, like when I see your tater/bambi wrap!!! Nice job jeepdad - its also nice putting a face to your handle!
I guess I cant speak out against you cooking on gas when I just had beef ribs out of the oven
Great lookin cooker - I enjoyed seeing the thread on it being built, and even more seeing it in action! _________________ Money Maker

Great way to break it in Dan. That looks delicious.
I'm thinking a "Hash and Eggs" now, cause that's what it reminded me of. _________________ Gunny 3073/4044/8411

Good to see you finally got to take it for a test drive Dan!
You can't beat taters, meat & cheese in a wrap! Good stuff.
Just today a guy that I work with asked me if I wanted a discada that he salvaged from a friends junk pile. He said it has handles and all. I told him heck yeah! Hopefully it's in decent shape. If not I'll keep it at work in the shop & do some mods & fixin' on it. _________________ My Wife - | Quote: | | You should be able to get a whole pig, in all bacon! |

| The cooker looks awesome. I'm in. But at the risk of asking the stupidest question of the year, I fear, What is the rectangle portion of the build used for? Just for storage of the spoon and what not or is there a more specific purpose? |

Correct it is to hold cooking utensils...I also use it to hold veggies to warm up before throwing in the heat.
