Looking at Academy today and they had this.

http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_27723_-1?Ntt=wok&Ntk=All

I thought this would be great for cooking just for the family. I would also be able to see just how much we will use it before I order a bigger one.

What do you think?

The downside is the steep walls. When I cook on my disco I will pull the cooked food up towards the edge as my other items are cooking in the center of the disc.

Yeah I noticed that. But I figure it will still allow me to get my feet wet, as well as our appetite.

Then it will be much easier to pull the trigger on a big 24 inch disc with a shallower concave.

Can't you find a used wok locally? Seattle's huge Asian population means lots of used Asian cooking gear on the market, but we aren't the only place with large Asian populations ..

I strongly suggest getting one with wooden handles. The ones that one has are going to get really hot and make it hard to handle. I've had my wok for 25 years now and it cooks better today than when I first bought it.

I understand and agree with your logic. Too many times I've bought something with grand intentions, only to have said item gather dust. Embarassed
