Posted a pic or two on FB, letting some friends know about my new found interest in plow disk cooking and got an invite to do a cook for a neighborhood get-together, so I set up a mini-camp in their backyard this afternoon.
Threw about 4 lbs of cubed pork loin and mushroom sauce on the disc and heard some ooh's and aah's as it sizzled. Sweet.
Started adding the pre-cut veggies(onion, green pepper, carrots, brocolli and the sizzle got even more O's and A's. I was seriously trying to act like I knew what I was doing. Added sesame oil to the veggies as they cooked.
Pulled out the fish spatula to turn stuff more faster. Red trash can lid is a temp steamer top. Yeah, it's galvanized but the temps it's used at aren't anywhere near zinc melting or vaporizing temps. (Still looking for Weber lids)
This is how I served them. Handheld stir-fry. (Kinda felt bad as sides were pretty much ignored)
Many older guests with light appetites, but several requests for "to go" boxes
Many thanks to the Sis-in-law(far left) for taking most of the pics for me, but others took pics, too!
Had a great time(Premium Grain Belt tall boys) and really enjoyed sharing this "new" way of cooking for a crowd. Now, maybe I can get a brisket or butt gig going. _________________ I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

Right on, right on! Good to see your disc and cooking
going over well with the neighbors! Being from Huron, I
think you should consider a ring necked pheasant recipe
for us, sometime - if not discada - then smoked! _________________ Family, Q, Fishing, & Wishing.

Thanks all, for the kind words. It really was a blast watching everyones eyes widen when the chow went on.
Going to try using it more like a flat top griddle for burgers, chops or breakfast for more versatility. As good as the stir fry method is, I think I'd get bored if that was all I did on it. I think my smokers are feeling a bit neglected lately. _________________ I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

Thanks. Done did it twice last fall/winter. Couldn't find this thread, but this is from my first pheasant cook.
Neighbors had more than they could use so gave me these.
Done! Good meat, but rub was overpowering. I just do S&P on them now.
Here's the thread from my second ringneck cook.

Holy cow, those pheasants got huge shoulders and ribs!
Just kidding, looks tasty to me. I've never had dove, but I
imagine as an ADT they had to be good - the goose - I
guess I need to man up and try it sometime. _________________ Family, Q, Fishing, & Wishing.

Until I discovered this site, that is all I used mine for. Works great. People were always much more interested in eating a burger off of a plow disk than a grill. I also used mine to fry fish and fries once.
Awesome looking food by the way. |

Tug: Thanks. First goose for me (snows) and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
Jeepdad: Thanks. I love to cook anyway, but always more fun to cook for others.
huntca: Thanks. Yeah, something about cooking on a real plow disc really intrigues people that haven't seen it before. Got my feelers out for some walleye so I can do a fish fry. _________________ I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.
