Hi
Now the brain is on full power. I want to combine a vault and a stump. That Iam thinking is to start with a Vault and then attach a coalshute on the side and connect it to the vaults firechamber.
To make it a stump i make the smoke come out under the food grates ( use the vaults firechamber top as a deflector). To make that happen I have to install some steel get the smoke where i want it. Close the Vaults smoke inlet at the top and open it up in the bottom so i get the smoke in the bottom of the cooking chamber. Ill try to make a drawing that shows what i mean.
I want to reduce my army of smokers Smile
I want to make it like this beacuse i smoke salmon and then i want a lot of smoke so i use the Vault and when i want to make nightly bbq´s i use the stump

So what do you guys think of this idea

So now finaly i got some of the metal for this project.

Pitmaker clone part
I have put the pipes for the chimney in the frame and i decided that i let out the smoke on the backside instead of the top. Its going to be a flat roof. (otherwise i dont get it out from my garage Smile ). Iam also integrating air inlet for the fireplace in the frame so i get all my valves in the front of the smoker

Stump clone part.
I will put the chimney under the others so that will be about 1 inch from the top in the smoking chamber.

Here are some new photo

Piping for the chimney

Go for it man, Keep the pics coming. WIth those small stacks you are going to need some kind of forced air system.

Great looking build - very unique. I can't help much on the vault functionality, but if you have any questions on the Stump part, I can try and help.

@ QObsession
Thanks
I've been looking and reading about the stacks and the seams to be 1x8 and this stack is 2x4 so hopefully it works. without some forced air. I've already bought a vent system to use if it not works Smile .

@ Bedlam BBQ
Thanks ill keep that in mind.

Thanks dakota0311
Todays work was to get the stump part ready. That i succeeded with before I went out of gas for the welder.

The loose pipe from stump Iam going to connect to the bottom of the Vault water tray. Going to make it removable so when I dont use the stump I take away the pipe and close the connection to Vaults water tray. And Iam getting all this crazy ideas sober Smile. So here is some new pics.

Now i made conversion kit ready so I can switch between Vault and Stump smoker. So from now its just welding all the sheet and there are a few meter to do Smile.
Have to get to the doctor tomorrow and take out a piece of metal in the eye that's life when you don't use the protection glasses all the time. Stupid .

Here are some photos from the kit

Used as Stump

Used as Vault.
Then I close the hole both from under and above the one above i can put water in if needed.

What`s missing in the kit is a heat deflector to use with Stump

So back to the smoker again.
Had some problem with the mag welder the welding gun started to leak gas so i had to order a new one. 3 weeks delivery and now there is some problem with the electricity. I ordered a new machine a Kemppi Ra 181 http://www.diywelding.co.uk/?i=224812
This should work little better than the old Esab 150.

I made some progress on the smoker.

Here is the panel to control the air for the different smoking type Vault or Stump

@ chuckied
I like to work with metal its a great material to work with.
In my garden I have all kind of smokers. so this time I want to make something like no one have done before. So I decided to make a clone of the Vault and Stump combined.
And in the working progress there is an extra pipe for cold smoking.
Waiting for the new mag so i can continue the build.
