A local furniture store here in town started trying selling the Vision Grills Kamado Pro....
http://www.visiongrills.com/kamado-pro/
While i was there kicking the tires so to speak i took a look at and bought a bag of there lump. One of the bags on hand was open so i took a look see and to my amazement the chunks of lump were nice big pieces and dense like oak wood. For a 20lb bag i paid $21.99. Sure is heavy for a 20lb bag of lump.
I was wondering if any one has tried this brand of lump & who makes it/bags it for the Vision Grills company?
I searched on the internet and the naked wiz site with no luck. Here`s a pic of the bag. Will try it soon and post my results.

Holy hunks of wood!!!
Tried out this bag of lump yesterday on a butt run. Filled my twin WSM's with loads of this oak lump charcoal, upon opening the bag I was amazed at the size of chunks.... er um I mean logs .... quite a few huge pieces 8-10 inches in diameter. This stuff even burned longer compared to say royal oak.
One thing I did notice is how I had to open the bottom dampers more on the WSM's to allow for more air flow. The lump seemed to be harder to burn. I contributed or thought that this may be that it is indeed oak a much harder wood, but once I figured out to allow for more air it was fine.
Burned hot and long. It you happen to run across this brand of lump give it a try. I think I paid $23 for a 20 lb bag. Worth the effort. _________________ Go Big Red! |

Thanks for the update, Jeff T!
Burning long is good, IMO.
I have never seen that stuff up here (Canada).
We're having a family reunion in July,
with lots of American cousins coming up.
Maybe I will put in a request or two. _________________ "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."

Sorry for the late reply. Forgot i posted here.
Mid-City Stereo/Slumberland over by the Sunset Plaza Mall has it. They started trying to sell the Kamado grill/smoker a few months ago. I stopped in the other day and looked at the smoker/grill thought i`d try a bag.
I think its pretty good stuff. _________________ Go Big Red! |
