i have. nothing new.
7016 = potassium based. ac or dcep (normal). medium penetration. H4 = low hydrogen.
like 7018's they must be kept hermetically sealed or oven kept for long term storeage, otherwise the flux absorbs water and then their most useful quality (low hydrogen precipitation) is out the window.
the big difference 7016 vs 7018's is that 7016 has a tiny bit more penetration in most positions & produce slightly less slag.
if you do weld for a living the only time i've ever encountered them is when a big job has figured out they are having quality problems tying in 7018 fill passes. which is rare. any trained welders can make up the penetration difference between them on the welder's end.
if you don't weld for a living it wont be much if any different in how it costs or runs compared to 7018's. |
