|
|
At the last minute I decided to make a disc and stand to bring up to deer camp. I wanted a small cooker that folds down with no tools involved. here is what I came up with after going through the spare parts piles.
Here is a few pics from camp making venison fajitas.
We also took it out for lunch.
Had to do bananas foster for dessert.
Thanks for looking. |

Good lookin' cooker. I really like the portability.
Still have a few tweaks to make on mine but gonna wait til spring, I think. _________________ I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

killswitch, I agree.
Kurt_W, The camp is in Maine.
KAKid, why wait till spring? I'm liking the fold down, easy transport factor. |

Mostly a combination of being a bit lazy, an unheated garage and a functional turkey fryer burner.
Haven't made any progress past this:

it just struck me funny to see flour tortillas heating up on a disc in New England.
but with the net and globaliztion and all I'd bet a person could find tortillas in Taiwan.
nice looking camp, BTW. _________________ extra vinegar caint hurt |

KAKid, seems like a fair explanation to me.
Kurt_W, it is kinda funny, I've gotten a few "what am I eating and how?" questions over the years. |

Very Cool GF! I like the tear down aspect of the cooker. I am wanting to put one together for camping as well and that should work out just fine and dandy. Nice work _________________ Trailers By Troy

TrailerBuilder, Thank you. The easy tear down and no small parts to loose would make it easy for camping. |

| GF, got a question on your invention, I would also like to make something like yours. I was wondering does yours wobble at all, it doesn't look like the black pipe goes very deep into the holes made on the bottom. I mocked mine up today and it was a little wobbly. Thanks in advance and nice build. Ron |

rhollar, thank you.
The black pipe legs don't go into the bottom. I put a 3" piece of 5/8" round bar into it and drilled the angle iron on the rim to that size.
The pipe sits on top like a shoulder.
If you have any other questions, just say so, I'll try to help. |

lay that disc in a big pile of coals(we use mesquite, but any hardwood's good) cut up a buncha mare guts about 10/12 in, season w/ salt, pepper, garlic and boil them w/ a beer. when the beer's boiled off the renderd fat fry's 'em. fry to taste(crispy or less) put that ina tortilla w/ Tobasco.
another option is to grill 'em till hot , greasy and slightly crisp and put a piece in white bread. also Tobasco.they render alot of fat while grillin', so keep lotsa coals handy to keep yer heat.
now before yall freak.. mare guts is a local term for fresh smalls from a fresh butchered young beef. corruppted from marrow gut. if yer particular, you can rince em' before cookin'. _________________ extra vinegar caint hurt |

C.B., Thanks. The way the winter has been going here, I'm using it almost weekly.
One day I'll remember to get pics. |

Thanks Maniac, The easy breakdown was the main goal, and for once, it actually worked.
The bottom pics are heating up lunch about 5-6 rocky miles from the camp.
The handles work pretty well, they don't get hot and the chain was free. |
